What are the library fines for an overdue item?

Answer

Any item not returned by its due date will begin to accrue fines. For a full listing of fines for students, faculty, staff, etc. see the Borrowing Guidelines below.

Here are the different fines for each type of item for students. Visit the Circulation desk if you need to pay any overdue fines or have questions about fines that you've accrued.

Books: 

$.25/day per item (maximum of $15.00 per item).

Reserve Materials:

3 Hour Reserves - $2/hour per item to a maximum of $25.00 per item.
1 and 3 Day Reserves - $2/day per item to a maximum of $25.00 per item.

Recalled Items: 

$2/day per item to a maximum of $25.00 per item.

  • Items recalled for course reserve are due immediately no matter how long they have been in circulation.
  • Items which are recalled by another patron must be returned within 48 hours after the notice is mailed.

Videos (DVD & VHS) and audio materials (CDs, LPs & Cassettes):

$1/day per item to a maximum of $15.00 per item.

 

*Please note that the failure to return library materials in a timely way when those materials are needed by other members of the Skidmore community may be treated as an academic integrity infraction.

May 9 - June 30 - Librarians will be on-call for research help. Ask at the Circulation desk.

July 1 - Aug. 1 - Librarians will be available at the Research Help desk from 10:00am-12:30pm on weekdays.
