What is citing?

Answer

When writing or creating a research paper or project, you'll be expected to identify which sources you've used and what parts of your research have come from these sources.  Typically you'll do this by including a bibliography at the end of your paper, which provides the publishing information for each of your sources.

You will also use some type of in-text citation throughout your paper to identify which pieces of information or quotations came from which sources.  The in-text citation may be directly in the text of the paper, within parenthesis, or appear as footnotes or endnotes.
