How do I find foreign films?
Answer
The library has several databases that provide access to some streaming international (foreign) films/documentaries as well as a DVD collection, all of which provide some films and documentaries in various languages. The streaming film databases are:
- Academic Video Online: Academic documentaries and programs
- Swank Digital Campus: Feature films
- Kanopy: Popular documentaries and some feature films
- Docuseek: Academic and popular documentaries
To find DVDs, you can search the library catalog by title for a specific film/documentary or by topic. If searching by either, select DVD from the Format menu.
You can also browse the DVD collection. International films are all in the same area, organized by their language and labeled.
While most DVDs for foreign films will be region1 and playable on most DVD players and hard drives, there may be DVDs from other regions. These can be played on our portable DVD and portable Blu-Ray players.
